The DEA is at it again.
New DEA Rules Threaten CBD industry prosperity again. The DEA is making an attempt to control All cannabinoid compounds in a new rule expected to pass in the first week of Jan 17 2017. These compounds are not listed under the Controlled Substances Act. The only cannabinoid compound stated in the Act is THC, the psychoactive compound. There are over 80 known cannabinoid compounds. So it looks to be that the DEA does not have the authority to do this as they have no legislative powers. They tried a similar attempt a few years back and failed. The War on Drugs is still not over and parts of the government just will not yield to change. Keeping control of such a useful plant because of this off the wall thinking is damaging to our whole existence as a free society. The mainstream media does not tell the public about this kind of political movement which I believe is a stretch of power.
CBD Not only in Cannabis
Cannabinoids have been found in other plants also so cannabis is not muexclusive to the production of these compounds. They naturally occur in coneflower(Echinacea), oxeye (Heliopsis helianthoides), electric daisy (Acmella oleracea), Helichrysum(umbraculigerum), liverwort (Radula marginata), black pepper (Piper nigrum) and even chocolate
(Theobrama cacao) plants as well as many others.
There already is a legal, viable industry growing in this field in our country providing jobs, relief to many symptoms of untold diseases and helping to improve the general health of society. To
try to impose such a new regulatory nightmare this industry should be left alone to prosper. The whole industry was validated when President Obama signed the Farm Bill. Click on the image to read. ⇒
Agricultural Act of 2014
According to the Hoban Law Group:
“The Farm Bill renders the entire industrial plant, including extracts, as lawful. On February 7,2014, President Obama signed the Agricultural Act of 2014 into law. See P.L. 113-79 (§7606).
Section 7606 of the act, Legitimacy of Industrial Hemp Research, defines industrial hemp as
distinct from marijuana and authorizes institutions of higher education or state departments of
agriculture in states that legalized hemp cultivation to conduct research and pilot programs
across the country.”
With all that said, legal groups are preparing for action against the rule even to the point of delay tactics to prevent the implementation of the new rule. It’s totally absurd that a government agency that will be extremely downsized with the end of Cannabis prohibition trying to grasp at anything, be it legal or not. Leading the group is the Hoban Law Group, a leader in pro marijuana litigation and promotion. They have written an outstanding response to this direct attack on our rights. It is available as a PDF. Click HERE to get it. I would select downloading it as it is a lot of information to grasp. You will be amazed at the tangled web that the bureaucracy can weave.
There were great strides made by the populace in the last election and I hope that implementing these long awaited changes goes smooth. There are still enemies of this change deeply embedded in our government regulatory agencies. They are determined to grasp for all the power they can get. Knowing that history has proved that this plant is an integral part of our daily health needs it still amazes me to hear about this type of government overreach.
What can YOU do about it?
Well you can call and write political representatives on a regular basis. You would be amazed at the response. I recently questioned my Local Federal Congressman, Gus Bilirakis about a medical bill he was sponsoring that will be enacted early in 2017. I sent it email from a link on his website. Two days later I got a phone call from a Washington DC area code. The President needs my advice i thought. Ooops pop went that bubble quick. Anyway it was a very informed aid who explained the congressman’s opinion (which was favorable) on my issue(Which was Medical Cannabis) and then answered any questions I had on the health bill that passed. I was impressed. Our tax dollars at work. Communicating with these guys is what makes them effective to your causes.
If you believe as I do that the Federal Government is out of control I urge you to look into the Convention of the States initiative and become pro-active. An Article 5 convention of the States can be convened to deal with some of the corrupt and out of date practices. Our forefathers created this Article in our Constitution for just these purposes. Washington can’t clean themselves up because the traditions are so deep rooted there.
So you can see that there already is a move against the new rule because the new DEA rule that threatens CBD is unlawful and that’s all there is to it!
What do you think?
